Turbomeca Establishes Logistics Hub
in Paris to Accelerate Spare Parts Delivery
Paris Air Show, 14 June 2003
A new Turbomeca Logistics Hub, now
open at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport, is part of a major
initiative to speed up the delivery of critical spares and
dramatically improve the overall quality of the company’s
product support.
Turbomeca’s first such hub signals a significant shift
in the company’s approach to support, which previously
saw parts distributed from factory locations in Bordes and
Tarnos, both in the south of France. The new facility, located
on an airport with non-stop flights to all corners of the
globe, will reduce distribution time to as little as 24 hours
for most destinations of the world.
The company’s objective is to deliver AOG shipments
from the Paris-Charles de Gaulle hub to the international
airport closest to an operator within 24 hours. Turbomeca
expects to deliver non-AOG orders within seven days.
In establishing this new facility, Turbomeca has employed
new methods of tracking in order to reduce the time from customer
order to delivery. The company is now studying the possibility
of establishing one or two additional hubs in other regions
of the world with the target to get a world wide coverage.
The new facility is part of Turbomeca’s MORE Initiative,
an effort launched in 2002 with the objective of placing more
resources closer to operators in the field.
