The Austrian Automobile Club ÖAMTC
is ordering 3 EC 135 helicopters powered by Arrius 2B2 engines
Paris Air Show, 14th June 2003
Turbomeca is pleased to announce
that the ÖAMTC has ordered 3 new Eurocopter EC 135 helicopters.
These are light, twin-engine helicopters powered by Arrius
2B2 engines.
This new order brings the number of EC 135
aircraft in ÖAMTC's fleet up to 21.
These helicopters are used for air surveillance missions and
as air ambulances.
The Arrius 2B2 is the first engine of the Arrius family to
benefit from OEI 30’’/2’ rating. The basic
version incorporates all the modifications developed on the
Arrius 2B1, its predecessor.
Also, the Arrius 2B2 was designed to allow a greater take-off
weight in category A and to an extension of the temperature
range. It offers the best performances at high altitudes and
temperatures.
In addition, the engine TBO (time between 2 overhauls) is
increased from 3,000 to 3,500 hours and the life cycles are
improved.
The Arrius 2B2 benefits from the latest Turbomeca technology,
offering a thermal power at OEI rating more than 8% better
than its predecessor the Arrius 2B1/2B1A.
The Arrius 2B2 is the first engine to offer the facility to
use the emergency OEI 30”/2’ ratings several times
without engine maintenance.
The customer also benefits from a computerised maintenance
aid which allows them to process the data downloaded from
the EECU.
The engines in the Arrius family draw upon the experience
gained from over 1,100 engines sold, amongst which 40,000
flying hours have been clocked up on the EC135.
