A318: Frontier’s Aircraft Certified by the FAA

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has just certified the CFM56-5B-powered Airbus A318, already certified by the European Joint Airworthiness Authorities in May 2003. As the first operator of the Airbus A318, Frontier participated in a presentation of its new aircraft on static display at the Le Bourget Airport, which hosts the Paris International Air Show. On display for one day only, the aircraft attracted attention with the grizzly bear painted on its tail. Frontier’s unique livery features different wild animals found in the continental USA. The Denver-based airline currently operates 18 Airbus A319 and purchased five A318 aircraft, scheduled for delivery by April of 2004.
