Aeroflot Russian Airlines is engaged in a massive fleet restructuring in order to reduce its operating cost. Some 18 brand new Airbus A319 and A320 will enter commercial service from October 2003 through December 2004. For the ten years to come, Snecma Services will provide total maintenance support, including engine repair and overhaul and guaranteed access to spare engine to the 36 CFM56-5B that will power Aeroflot’s new fleet. This contract is a major step in the efforts of Snecma Services to establish its presence in the Russian aviation market.
