Technofan
is present on the whole aerospace market: commercial and military
planes and helicopter, business jets commuters. 80 % of the
Technofan net sales derive from the civil market with one
leading client: Airbus. Air ventilation system (AVS) valves
and fans, avionics bay AVS, brake cooling fans equip the whole
single-aisle A320 aircraft family. But the major program for
Airbus and Technofan is the A380. On this program, Technofan
is no more an equipment supplier but a system supplier as
it is in charge of the complete avionics ventilation system.
To face the challenge, Technofan was supported by the Snecma
group specialists in electronics, software, mechanics and
dynamics.Technofan was also selected for the cabin ventilation
equipment. Today, 42 Technofan equipement will be on-board
the A380. And more contracts might show up. Thirty Technofans
engineers are dedicated to the A380 program, covering design,
logistics, methods, software, procurement…
The other big clients of Technofan have to be mentioned: Bombardier
and Embraer. These manufacturers represents 80% of the Technofan
share on the commuters market. Besides the Embraer 120, 135
and 145, Technofan has also won a couple of contracts for
the Embraer’s ALX jet trainer. 76 aircraft were ordered
by the Brazilian air force, that also put an option on 23
more aircraft. Technofan will deliver six fans on the ALX:
two for the ECS (identical to those embarked on the Embraer
1230) and four fans SF92 for the avionics ventilation. Thanks
to its integrated electronics, this brand new equipment has
a reduced volume. Ten first sets will leave Toulouse (France)
this year and deliveries will be completed by the end of 2006.
On the helicopters market, Technofan has a strong relation
with Eurocopter on the Tiger (Main Gear Box for the oil cooling
system) but also on the NH90. For this tactic transport helicopter,
the requests of Eurocopter, NHI main shareholder, were very
specific (see Technofan
on NH90). Technofan is also aboard the EH101 and the Agusta/Westland
A109.
As for the services, Technofan set up a
worlwide network of proximity with some fifty people dedicated
to the client support, with three repair stations in Toulouse,
Singapore and Seattle, allowing less than 10 days-TAT. To
get closer to its north and south American clients, Technofan
created Technofan Inc, a 100 % American company that develops
and produces ventilation equipment for the local market. Technofan
hopes the presence of this US subsidiary will help the French
company to be a potential supplier for Boeing's latest programme,
the 7E7. In the meantime, things are going pretty well for
Technofan, which has already signed contracts with Cessna
and Donaldson, as well as a Memoranding of Understanding with
a California-based ventilation company.
